At Jupiter Gallery we are delighted to be exhibiting Simon Hartle’s first UK solo show.
Simon is an alchemist bringing together many materials and chemical processes to build his abstracted landscapes. He cremates memories in communal settings by using campfires to dispose of discarded wooden objects, burning them to ashes and applying them to his works. He uses traditional oils combined with materials from the surrounding landscape in West Cornwall, china clay features heavily in this collection.
Simons radiant colour explosions not only embody and express the rhythms of the Cornish landscape but evoke ideas of natural phenomena and stand as a metaphor for our relationship with the natural world.
